Steve Alexander, Managing Partner
Steve Alexander, a founding partner of Shore Points Capital, brings more than 28 years of private equity and merchant banking experience to the firm. Steve originated, and from 1989 to 2006 headed up, Paribas' and BNP Paribas' private equity investment activities for North America. He originated and executed equity investments in a variety of sectors, including media, business services, electronics, specialty chemicals, restaurants and healthcare services. On behalf of Shore Points Capital or BNP Paribas, he served or serves as a board member or board observer of numerous companies, including Loftware; Breckwell; TSD Rental; Alabama Outdoor Advertising; Special Devices, Inc.; Reilly Corporation; Astra ; Huddle House and ARGI.
Steve co-founded the predecessor to the Paribas Merchant Banking Group in 1985 and the Merchant Banking Group in 1995, and was sole head from 1990 to 2000. As part of Paribas' merchant banking activities, Steve was responsible for overall business development of Paribas' leveraged finance and equity investment activities in the U.S., including starting up Paribas’s SBIC.
Before joining BNP Paribas in 1983, Steve worked at Chase Manhattan Bank in the Global Specialized Industries sector.
Steve received a B.A. degree with honors and an M.B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ed Irwin, Managing Partner
Ed Irwin, a founding partner of Shore Points, has over 20 years of experience in the private equity industry. Before starting Shore Points with Steve Alexander in 2006, Ed was a Managing Director at BNP Paribas, first in the Merchant Banking Group, and then as a principal in the Private Capital Group. Prior to that, Ed worked for the Chase Manhattan Bank for over 10 years and was a founding member and principal of Chase Capital, which was the private equity unit of Chase and one of the predecessors to JP Morgan Partners.
Ed has led investments in a number of enterprise software businesses, including Colyar Consulting Group, Loftware, TSD Rental, Automated Resource Group, and Sirsi. He also has invested and served on the board of a variety of successful businesses in the manufacturing, electronics, technology and service sectors including notably Details Inc. (printed circuit board manufacturer); American Tower Corp (cell tower operator); Global Energy Equipment Group (manufacturer of steam generators); Turner Brothers (crane operator); and OK International (electronics tools).
Ed received a BA degree from Harvard and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Walt Bellingham, Principal
Walt Bellingham is a founding member and Principal at Shore Points. Before Shore Points, Walt was a Director of the Private Capital Group at BNP Paribas and prior to that, a Director with the BNP Paribas Merchant Banking Group. Walt also spent five years at Chase Manhattan Bank in the Middle Market Structured Finance Group. In addition to his experience at Chase, Walt worked at Hartz Mountain Industries, a New Jersey-based real estate developer.
Walt has originated equity investments in a variety of industries including manufacturing, specialty distribution, business and energy services and restaurants. He serves or has served as a board member or observer of CCA Floors and Interiors, North American Energy Partners, Propex Holdings, Polaris Pool Systems, Stauber Performance Ingredients, Transport Labor Contract/Leasing and Triumph Healthcare.
Walt received a B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Rutgers University.
Michael Miller, Principal
Mike Miller is a founding member and Principal of Shore Points. Before Shore Points, Mike was a Vice President with the Private Capital Group at BNP Paribas. Over his career, Mike has invested in, worked for, and advised several successful enterprise software businesses. Mike serves or served as a board member or observer of Colyar Consulting Group, TSD Rental, Loftware, ARGI, and Breckwell.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Mike was a founding member of Sorenson Capital, a middle-market private equity firm. While with Sorenson Capital, Mike evaluated and executed a number of transactions in the services, manufacturing, and technology industries. Before joining Sorenson Capital, Mike was the Director of Corporate Development at Found, Inc., a VC-backed enterprise software company.
Prior to joining Found, Inc., Mike was a member of the Technology Investment Banking Group at UBS, where he worked on numerous public and private equity transactions.
Mike received a B.A. degree from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from NYU.
